Jacint Decorart
Here is a very raw picture of my mum, 'Cint' sketching in the garden. She has a real talent and a very unique style, filled with life and colour, which mirrors her personality and daily life. Her pictures are accompanied with wonderful words of truth and hope. She reminds me of the wife of noble character in Proverbs 31:10-31. See here blog here."Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised." (Proverbs 31:30)

The Dandenong Ranges
Ever since I was a boy I have visited the Dandenong Ranges. And once again I returned, with Cint and Davina staying in a cottage surrounded by camellia's, rhododendrons and monstorously tall trees (imagine an English cottage surrounded by flowering woodlands). On arrival we were introduced to Mickey the cat, a friendly feline in a rich black coat with a white face and front paws. Mickey and I fell in 'like' at first sight! He actually looked like Mickey Mouse. And the place like Disneyland, all the fun less the rides and Mickey the cat the grand furry host. The days were spent running through never ending gardens, swordfighting and jousting with long sticks and admiring the beauty of our creator, the Lord who painted life itself! On one of our garden adventures we stumbled upon an abandoned tree nursery filled with paddocks and paddocks of exotic flowers and trees, a field of hydrangeas here of japonicas there, and to our delight we saw the incredibly rare lyrebird! An exotic and native Australian bird that very few people have ever seen which features on our 10 cent piece. It can imitate the calls of other birds and sounds of the forest, even fooling the kookaburras. To see it so close floating through a field of young daffodils and resting near our feet was like being aboard the most thrilling of all rollercoasters. At night we returned to the cottage with lofty cathedral ceilings and stoked the fire with wood and pine cones, I fell asleep staring into the gently crackling fire, still buzzing from my rollercoaster experience. I still feel like a boy visiting the ranges.

Jun Yuasa

Meet Jun Yuasa, a very facinating and gentle guy with a very sharp eye. He is one of the best photographers I have come across in my travels and clearly distinguishes himself from the 'point and shoot' crowd by structuring a new level of thought and design into each shot. It was a joy working with Jun shooting in the studio and on location the neon dogs and the astronaut from the 'The Future is Neon Bright' series. See Jun's website at http://www.junyuasa.com/

Guest artist: Georgina Wills

ARTWORK BY GEORGINA WILLS
Today is my lovely younger sister Davina's birthdy. Only our cat Ella knows how old she is and I tried to bribe Ella with some cheese to find out Davina's age but Ella would not budge. The name 'Davina' is the feminine name of 'David'. She is also Like the young ruddy King David, Davina also enjoys slaying todays giants and dancing before the King. She is a riot and a real laugh to hang out with. Here she is painted by the also lovely and very talented guest artist Georgina Wills. Happy Happy Birthday Davina!

Dappled Cities

This week just gone by I showed a sculpture in a very unique listening exhibition called Zounds Sounds. Twelve artists were selected from each city, Melbourne and Sydney and were then allocated to a song and given a room to produce an artwork that reflected the song by the band 'Dappled Cities' for their upcoming album. All the guys in the band were great fun and played a private show for the artists and media afterwards. The new album is killer!

Where life and dreams come alive
This is my watercolour set, the case made of silver is like my prized bow and the paints inside my quiver of arrows. Here it's in my room guarded by my four dogs I created, but usually I will open it up in a cafe or park. And now people don't run away like i'm carrying a concealed bow!
Like an archer on the front line firing away, me too like a wildcat with my blood still running from a skateboard or ride throught the streets, fueled by a cafe latte or peach ice tea, I will paint life, people and places that inspire me and my dreams that walk beside me.
Weak then strong

2 Corinthians 12:13
A girl at one of my favourite leafy cafe's had this tatooed onto her arm, she really liked the phrase and knew it came from the Bible but did not really know what it meant. It means so much to me...
You may be going through battles, feeling weak and insufficient or feeling like the sad rabid dog that I drew below, but rejoice and take delight for Jesus said "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." 2 Cor 12:9.

Trent Smyth

↑ Click image to see more details.

Let me introduce you to Captain Trent "Batman" Smyth.
Many people have asked me what my good friend Trent Smyth does? Often wondering the same question myself it was only recently that I stumbled upon this jaw dropping answer... Trent is actually Bruce Wayne's younger cousin from Melbourne. He presents as a true modern gentleman and never to be seen without his furry sidekick and friend Oscar.
Being quite partial to wearing lycra on more occasions than his daily bike ride and living off a strict diet of Laurent French pastries. Our friend is encamped in the heart of the Melbourne metropolis in an amazing hidden away "untitled" headquarters, with a basement/cave of fast cars. Inside Captain Trent resides behind a real life revolving bookshelf perfectly matching his uber modern "Gotham City" styled furnishings.
This bachelor walks his dog Oscar by day and you've got it, is a vigilante by night!

Fashion design
Just completed a large set of pictures using fabric paint on a huge roll of material. The material will be then cut up and used by a friend of mine who is a fashion designer to create 'couture' dresses. Here are a sample of some of the designs I painted. It would be really fun to see these pictures transformed into dresses and being worn around the city.
